SE업계의 장로이신 CMU의 Mary Shaw교수님의 Talk가 한국에서 진행되네요. Mary Shaw 교수님은 David Garlan 교수님과 같이 SE 쪽에서 오랫동안 헌신하신 분입니다.
유명한 서적인 Software Architecture: Perspectives on an Emerging Discipline 저자이시기도 하구요.
이번 세미나는 아쉽게도 그의 연구인 Value-Based Software Engineering 쪽은 아니지만, SE 쪽에서 워낙 입지가 탄탄한 분이라 한번 만나 보시면 좋을거 같습니다.
좋은 SE 논문을 쓰는 방법입니다. SE 관련 학생들/부서에 있으신 분들에게 좋을거 같네요. 개발자 분들중에 어떻게 학습을 하고 글을 쓰는지, 자신의 지식을 표현하느지 관심있는 분도 좋을거 같습니다.

- 일시: 2/25(금) 저녁 7시 ~ 8시 or 8시 30분
- 장소: KAIST 서울 도곡동 연구소 1층 강의실 (별도의 가입절차 없이 그냥 가셔서 들으시면 됩니다.!)
- 주제: a talk on the research paradigms of software engineering, with emphasis on presenting those results in research papers
Abstract: Writing Good Software Engineering Research Papers.
Software engineering researchers solve problems of several different kinds. To do so, they produce several different kinds of results, and they should develop appropriate evidence to validate these results.
They often report their research in conference papers. I analyzed the abstracts of research papers submitted to an ICSE conference in order to identify the types of research reported in the submitted and accepted papers, and I observed the program committee discussions about which papers to accept. This report presents the research paradigms of the papers, common concerns of the program committee, and statistics on success rates.
This information should help researchers design better research projects and write papers that present their results to best advantage

안녕하세요. 전 가지 않았습니다. 아는 지인의 소개로 외부로 알려달라고 해서, 알리기만 했죠. 재미있는 건 Mary Shaw 교수님의 파트너인 David Galan 교수님도 같이 한국에 계신다는 거죠. 두 분이 모여 세미나를 열면 정말 좋은건데. 아쉽네요. 🙂
